Maki was casted in the horror movie “One Missed Call: Final“, alongside her friend Kuroki Meisa, and South Korean actor Jang Geun Suk. Soon after, she landed the gender-bending role in the hit drama “Hana Kimi“, which  nailed her a ‘Best Actress Award’ at the 54th Television Drama Academy Awards.

In 2007, Maki was awarded Vogue Nippon’s ‘Woman of The Year‘. Later that year she starred in the drama “Innocent Love” alongside popular Japanese actor Hiroki Narimiya. Maki played the role of ‘Naomi’ in the Hollywood-Japan collaboration film called “Dareka ga Watashi ni Kiss wo Shite“, based on Gabrielle Zevin’s novel “Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac”, and directed by Hans Canosa.

Other than starring in television dramas and movies, Maki has ventured into voice acting (anime seiyu), and have appeared in several music videos. 1. I loved her in One Missed Call: Final! One of my favorite actresses, Meisa Kuroki, is also in that movie. If anyone is interested, Meisa has a singing career and she’s released some really good songs so far. Her debut, Hellcat, is one of my favorite Jpop albums. 😀 Thanks for this great article! ❤
