Meet Alexandra Burke, a British pop singer who like Shayne Ward and Leona Lewis, rose to fame after winning The X Factor. Her debut single “Hallelujah” sold 105,000 copies in its first week, and over one million total, making her the first female artist to sell that many in the UK alone.

Alexandra released her debut album “Overcome” in October 2009. The album debuted at number one on the UK charts. Her second single “Bad Boys” featuring American rapper Flo Rida, earned her a first Brit Award nomination. Her follow singles have all topped the UK singles chart. To date, Alexandra has achieved across the UK and Ireland, and “Ovecome” has sold over 4 million in the UK alone.

Alexandra was asked by Beyonce‘ to join her on the second leg of her “I Am…Tour” in Europe. In July 2009, she signed a six figure contract with Italian designer Dolce & Gabanna, to become the face of their new fashion line. A requirement was that she would wear their designs and accessories in her music videos.

Alexandra gained a fifth consecutive top ten hit with the release of her third single “Start Without You“. She later released a re-packaged edition of her “Overcome” album on November 29, 2010. The deluxe edition included three new songs, “Perfect“, “Before The Rain“, and “What Happens On The Dancefloor” featuring Cobra Starship.

Though Alexandra is now a successful artist, she had been doing charity work long before her career took off. Alexandra did a tour called “Young Voices” to help raise funds for children with Luekemia. She joined various female celebrities on the Peru Inka Trail Hike for Breast Cancer Care. Alexandra has travelled to Haiti following the devastating earthquake, to assist the people of the country in any way she can.
