Meet Devon Aoki, an American model and actress. Devon is known most notably for her appearances in “2 Fast 2 Furious“, and “Sin City“.
Aoki was born on August 10, 1982 in New York City. Her father is of Japanese decent, and her mother is of German and English heritage. Devon grew up between California and London. Her modelling career started when she was 13, after being discovered in New York at a concert. Devon was introduced to Kate Moss by her Godmother, who began mentoring Devon.
At 14, Aoki signed to Storm Model Management, and at 16 she became the face of Versace, replacing Naomi Campbell. Despite being short (5′ 5”), Devon modeled for top brands like Lancôme, and Chanel, and has done ad campaigns for Tiffany & Co., YSL, Fendi, Baby Phat, and many others.
Devon signed to LA’s International Creative Management, and The Firm to start her acting career. She made her acting debut in 2003’s “Death of a Dynasty“, and the popular “2 Fast 2 Furious” starring Paul Walker, Tyrese, and Ludacris. In 2005, she appeared alongside a huge actors such as Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, and Elijah Wood in the Frank Miller crime thriller “Sin City“. The film had international success, and received recognition for its unique color processing (black, white, and red). Following “Sin City”, Devon went on to appear in the movies “D.O.A (Dead or Alive)“, and “War” alongside Jet Li and Jason Statham.
In 2007, Devon designed her own signature jeans with Levi’s, which was released in Asia. She returned to fashion in 2008, walking for the Chanel Fall 2008 show in London. Later 2008, Devon filmed the movie “Mutant Chronicles“, and in 2009, “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead“.
Devon currently resides in Los Angeles, where she is working on movie projects. She has been dating James Bailey. Devon enjoys poetry writing and playing the drums, but most of all, doing fashion and making action films.
I loved her in 2 Fast 2 Furious and Sin City both, she’s a good actress! I really want to try out one of her other movies, DOA (Dead Or Alive). I was never a huge fan of the video games, but I’m a sucker for movies based on almost any video game 🙂
