Spotlight – Tinie Tempah

Meet Tinie Tempah, an English rapper best known for his hit singles “Pass Out“, “Written in the Stars“. Tinie was born Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu in South London. He began rapping since a young age and gained airplay on British radio stations in 2006. Tempah signed a record deal in October 2009, and released his debut single “Pass Out” in February 2010. “Pass Out” topped the UK Singles chart and remained in the number one position for two consecutive weeks. His second single “Frisky“, which was released in June 2010, also debuted in the top 10 UK Singles charts, peaking at number 2. Tinie would later perform as an opening act on Rihanna’s Last Girl On Earth Tour in the UK. He later released his third single “Written in the Stars” featuring Eric Turner, followed by the release of his first studio album “Disc-Overy” in October 2010. “Written in the Stars” topped the UK Singles chart, the R&B chart, as well as the Irish Singles chart. Following the release of his debut album, Tinie embarked on his first nationwide tour, which was supported by Chiddy Bang (an American Hip Hop band). Tempah received his first MOBO Award nominations, which included Best Newcomer & Best Video for his second single ‘Frisky‘, which he won, and a Best Song nomination for ‘Pass Out’. Tinie also wonΒ three Urban Music Awards, and two BRIT Awards.

Tinie went on to release three more singles from his “Disc-Overy” album: “Miami 2 Ibiza“, “Invincible” featuring Kelly Rowland, and his latest “Wonderman” featuring Ellie Goulding, which was released on March 7, 2011.Β Tempah is also featured on Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” UK Remix, and “Game Over” by Tinchy Stryder. His debut album has been certified platinum to date, and Tinie hopes his second effort will do even better. He is a very talented rapper, and his music has substance, so if you haven’t listened to Tinie Tempah before, I suggest you get on his music now!
