I’m back with the second addition to the heatseekers series, where I select artists that were rocking the music industry back then, and continues to deliver the hits even now. Remember if you’d like me to feature one of your favorite artist, send an e-mail to me at email@example.com, with “Artist Request” in the subject line. The heatseeker for today is the sultry and smooth singing Sade. See my two picks below:
“The Sweetest Taboo” is Sade’s fifth single and first from their second platinum selling album “Promise” released in 1985. The single topped the U.S. Adult Contemporary Charts, and reached the top 5 on both Hot 100 and the R&B charts. “Promise” was their first album to top the Billboard 200 and the U.K Album charts.
“Soldier of Love” is their lead track from the sixth studio album of the same title. The single and album was released in 2010, 10 years after the previous album “Lovers Rock“. “Soldier of Love” topped the U.S Jazz Charts, and the album went number one in four countries, including the U.S, Canada and the U.K. “Soldier of Love” is Sade’s sixth platinum selling record in a row. No matter the wait period between albums, Sade has always been successful in delivering something new and doing well globally. And that’s why I added the band in this series.
