Stars were either looking hot or a hot mess on the red carpet at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards held in Las Vegas. The BMAs are given out to music’s most popular artists. The finalists and winners are determined by their rank on the Billboard charts and their “social and streaming activities. The three hour event was packed with hot performances, but despite being an award show it was more like a promotional ground for pop artists to showcase their latest music. Anyways, check out the fashion hits and misses below:
Disney darling Selena Gomez showed off quite a bit of skin in a revealing Dolce & Gabbana cut-out dress. She accessorized with Neil Lane jewelry, a Judith Leiber clutch, and cute Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.
Rihanna in a sharp, white Max Azria suit, nude Christian Louboutin heels, pink lipstick, and a gold pendant necklace.
Beyonce arrived in a relatively demure black cocktail frock and sparkly Louboutin peep-toes. The artist later received the Billboard Millennium Award for her career achievements.
Fergie flaunted her flawless figure in a structured Herve Leger dress, while fellow Black Eyed Pea, Taboo, made the mistake of donning Capri pants and a leather vest.
Nicki Minaj turned heads yet again in a baby blue jumpsuit adorned with large silver sequins. Curly pinks locks and white booties didn’t help matters.
Keith Urban kept things simple in a charcoal gray suit, while his wife, Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, opted for a daring, pocketed frock and beautiful braid.
The undisputed Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige popped a pose upon arriving in a floor-length, leopard print Marc Bouwer dress and Ofira baubles.
“Glee’s” Matthew Morrison topped his dark denim with a conservative blue shirt and blazer combo that made him look more like a dad than an aspiring rock star.
Keri Hilson was looking bright in a canary yellow mini with a turquoise belt cinched at the waist, plus pink strappy heels and a gold clutch.
Ke$ha donned a sparkly purple number — with what looks like a dress hanging off each side! — some dowdy black footwear, and way too much face paint.
Randy Jackson in a shiny jacket and outdated skull tee.
Kelly Rowland — who was in attendance to help honor Beyonce — wore shimmering accessories and a hot pink Herve Leger by Max Azria dress that hugged her in all the right places.
Joe Jonas sported a simple black suit.
Lady Antebellum in simple, black attire like their usual style.
Ne-Yo rocked the red carpet looking like this was the Year of the Gentleman, except for his oddly-placed New York Yankees baseball cap.
Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker showed off his tattoos — and his brood!
Michelle Williams in basic black.
Trey Songz looking casually fresh in a crocodile skin printed black blazer, white tee, black jeans and white high top sneakers.
cr: omg!
Because I am a SIMPLE type of person, I want things to be simple too. And yeah, I love watching people show off their clothes (‘coz when I was young, I really dreamed of becomin a fashion designer). So for me, I liked everything except for Nicki Minaj’s which is too flashy. And Kesha also, she’s too much with the design, it didn’t fit. And Selena showed too much skin, as a TEENAGER. But the BEST for me is LADY ANTEBELLUM, keeping it SIMPLE but with elegance and most importantly, NEAT :))
