It's been ten years since Lil' Romeo came on the scene and wowed fans worldwide with his single "My Baby". Percy Romeo Miller, Jr was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and is the eldest of six children. The child star has established a name for himself not only in the music industry but also in television and film. Who could forget his performance in the movie "Honey", a role which showcased the maturity and depth he embodied as a young actor. It was this role that led to a series of television appearances until landing him his own sitcom “Romeo!” from 2003 until 2006. However, Percy was never one to be phased by popularity. He continued his focus on getting an education and working hard to achieve his second dream, which was to become a professional basketball player.
Percy made his music debut in 2001 at the age of eleven under the stage name Lil’ Romeo. His self titled debut album reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 charts selling over 2 million copies in the U.S alone. His debut single “My Baby” reached the number 3 position on the Billboard hot 100 charts, but topped the hip hop/r&b charts. Romeo won the Rap Artist of the Year award, along with r&b/hip hop song award for “My Baby” in 2002. He started his acting career with a cameo appearance as himself in the 2001 film “Max Keeble’s Big Move”, but it was his starring role in the movie “Honey” which peeked the interest of movie lovers. Romeo starred alongside Jessica Alba, Mekhi Phifer, and Zachary Isaiah Williams, as a troubled young teen looking for a way out of his difficult surroundings. In 2004, he was nominated for the Teen Choice Breakout Movie Star Award for his performance in “Honey”.
Miller was serious about starting his basketball career since his days as a student at the Beverly Hills High School. He was later granted a full athletic scholarship to attend the University of Southern California, and began playing in the 2008-2009 season.
Alongside being an actor, rapper and basketball player, Romeo has added model and fashion designer to his resume. In 2010, he launched a clothing line called “College Boyys”, which has been promoted by Justin Bieber, Jaden Smith, and Big Time Rush. In 2011, Romeo modeled for the April issue of TROIX magazine. The multi-talented young man became a celebrity contestant on season 2 of “Dancing with the stars”; however, he had to withdraw from the competition due to an injury, but later returned for season 12. Sadly he was voted off the show on May 10, 2011 and finished in the top 5 of the competition.
Romeo has recently starred in the romantic comedy “Jumping the Broom”, and is currently working on an upcoming movie “Wolf Boy”, which he will be playing the leading role. Romeo continues to work on his music as well as his college education. He’s always striving to accomplish his goals and that is only expected of a well grounded young man whose father instilled a considerable amount of positivity in his life. Romeo is a role model for young boys everywhere, showing them that as long as you set your mind on achieving something then you can make it happen if you work hard enough.
