Evanescence gives us a first listen

Evanescence's Amy Lee

MTV news recently sat down in the studio with Amy Lee of Evanescence to discuss the band’s upcoming third self-titled album, which will be released on October 11th. It’s been a few years since the band’s last release, “The Open Door” (four years to be exact), and fans are definitely anticipating their new material. MTV News was also given the privilege of listening to the album’s lead single “What You Want“, along with two more songs “The Other Side” and “Lost in Paradise“. Regarding the new album, Amy said:

“I feel like, not that I’m trying to do what’s important for the music industry, I’m doing what I want — we’re doing what we love. But, at the same time, it’s so refreshing for us to play music that we want to hear,” she explained. “It rocks, and not that there’s nothing going on that does, but less and less; that’s definitely not what’s dominating the airwaves. And it would be so amazing and it’s totally our dream to have that happen for us; not even just for us, but, like, we want to hear rock music again.

“I think that, as a band, we’re really strong,” she continued. “Everybody’s just playing at the top of their game right now, they’re just putting it all in … and it was, like, that mentality the whole time we were working. Like, whatever it takes to make the most amazing thing possible.”

The new album is looking to be as impressive as the band’s previous records if not better. I like other fans am very eager as to what they have in store for us and I can’t wait for October 11. “What You Want” will be released in August. Be sure to check back with us for updates.
