R&B singer Olivia, former G-Unit 1st lady, has released the music video for her latest song “Walk Away.” The video depicts a situation that many of us turn a blind eye to or try to convince ourselves that its okay. Domestic violence is where I’m getting at and I like how it’s portrayed as a intense form of dance in the video, plus Olivia’s voice … Continue reading Olivia Encourages Women To “Walk Away”

For Thought: Afghan Family Found Guilty In ‘Honor’ Killings

Mohammad Shafia, his wife Tooba Yahya, and their son Hamed were each found guilty of four counts of first degree murder in Canada for the killing of three teenage sisters and another woman in what is described as a ‘twisted concept of honor.’ According to the AP, prosecutors said the defendants allegedly killed the three teenage sisters because they dishonored the family by defying its disciplinarian rules on dress, dating, socializing and using the Internet. The Emotional Voice of Tess Henley

Seattle’s finest Tess Henley prefers to think of herself ‘as a songwriter who strives to write musically rich songs.’ Jazzy, smooth, emotional, soulful, are just a few of the words that went through my head the first time I saw one of Henley’s performance on YouTube. She’s more than just a wonderful singer; she’s the kind of artist that reaches the soul of her listeners. Songs like “Complicated,” “Boy in the Window” and “What You Won’t Do For Love” are three of my favorites that invoke a soothing atmosphere. Tess is truly one in a million.  Continue reading “The Emotional Voice of Tess Henley”

[Review] Brian Joo’s “Reborn Part 1”

Brian Joo just melts my heart every time he opens his mouth and starts singing. This is a natural talent who I feel doesn’t get the complete recognition he deserves. His last release, “Unveiled,” truly blew me away; the songs were tasteful, unconventional, and totally spectacular. Brian has always been that artist who knows how to deliver music worth listening to. And thus he’s done it again. “Reborn Part 1” continues where the previous EP left off, so they say. For his latest effort, Joo has invited one of the biggest hip hop artists in Korea, Tiger JK, along with Jay Park, Dumbfoundead, and Flowsik of Aziatix to help convey his ‘seriousness towards music.’ The lead track caught my attention so now all that’s left is to check out the rest of the EP and see exactly where Brian is going with this one. Forget Vampires, A Witch is ‘Born’

Surely by now our avid readers are given the impression that I’m certainly not a fan of ‘Twilight,’ the movies at least. I just feel that the characters were ruined on screen and far too cheesy for my taste (basically bad acting at best). Regardless, it didn’t kill my appetite for fantasy novels. Indeed I still enjoy a good dish that satisfies my taste in the supernatural, and authors like Becca Fitzpatrick (Hush, Hush series) and Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy & Bloodlines series) both in my opinion, delivers when it comes to writing good books that keep me entertained and hooked. So, while they’re working on their next best sellers, I started researching for the next novel to save me from boredom or when I’m completely blank when it comes to posting.  Continue reading “Forget Vampires, A Witch is ‘Born’”

“I Have Permission to Cheat…”

As otherworldly as that headline sounds, I kid you not. Such things are apparently taking place in relationships. I believe they casually call it ‘open relationship.’ Whatever the term is for that, the lifestyle definitely has me rethinking if it still holds the values of a relationship when it’s that open. Regardless of what the person giving the permission says, feelings are bound to get hurt and the end results will certainly not be pretty. Continue reading ““I Have Permission to Cheat…””

[Review] Elle Varner’s “Conversational Lush” (Mixtape)

Elle Varner isn’t going to lose the momentum created by her old school inspired hit single “Only Wanna Give It to You.” The LA native is proving she’s here to stay with the release of her mixtape ‘Conversational Lush.’ This definitely takes things up a notch. The songs are deep, lyrically distinct, sexy, fun & playful. Most of all, the instruments are experimented on but dynamic in every sense. You don’t hear anything like this on mainstream radio and Elle is very much what’s missing in music these days. Continue reading “[Review] Elle Varner’s “Conversational Lush” (Mixtape)”
