[Exclusive] Anuhea on her career, and doing it all “For Love”

Fierce is an understatement. Powerful is somewhat close. However, when it comes to the multi-talented Anuhea, her style is what I describe as enigmatic. The Maui native has been pushing herself and breaking the mold since she had an epiphany pursuing her studies in something other than music. It’s always delightful to step outside the generic sounds of modern day beats, and this sassy lady has revived my interest in entertainment. Watch her islandish music video for “Higher Than The Cloudsbelow, purchase the new album on iTunes, and read on to learn more about this blooming songstress: Continue reading “[Exclusive] Anuhea on her career, and doing it all “For Love””

BIG BANG is “Alive” and Still “Bad”

One of the biggest male groups in Kpop’s history has unveiled their long awaited new mini album “Alive“, and a music video for the second single off the EP. I think what we all can agree with on “Bad Boy” is that BIG BANG has finally returned to their hip hop roots. This is the group that I became drawn to, not for their sickening … Continue reading BIG BANG is “Alive” and Still “Bad”

Bullying The Cause For Ohio School Shooting?

People are evacuated from Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, about 30 miles east of Cleveland, after a number of students were shot there at the beginning of the school day Monday, Feb. 27, 2012. Officials said the number of victims is not yet known and a suspect has been taken into custody. MANDATORY CREDIT; ; ONLINE OUT Photo: The Plain Dealer, John Horton / AP

If you’re out of the loop like I was earlier, then you probably missed the news about a shooting at Chardon High School in Ohio. Apparently, a teenager, not a student at that particular school, opened fire in the cafeteria killing one and wounding four others. A witness said that the young boy targeted a group of students sitting together, and while another described the suspect as an outcast who was bullied, others disputed the matter.  Continue reading “Bullying The Cause For Ohio School Shooting?”

Viola Overlooked, Once Again

Viola Davis just can’t catch a break when it comes to winning Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress at neither the Golden Globes, nor the Academy Awards. This woman is beyond talented so why for the love of exceptional acting won’t these committees realize her true potential and reward her with what she so deserves. I don’t know how many were as disappointed as I was when Davis’ name wasn’t announced as Best Actress winner on Sunday night, but can you imagine how she felt losing out twice in a row in the same category to the same person, despite how great Meryl Streep is. Urghh!

I’m actually quite overwhelmed by it all. The fact that this film as well as Viola’s performance received so much hype both positively and negatively. And for the sake of the negativity surrounding her role in “The Help,” I Continue reading “Viola Overlooked, Once Again”

[Music Review] Usher’s “Climax”

I was beginning to worry Usher was putting to rest his soulful roots to jump on the dance trend that has proven to be tasteless and forgettable music only hot for a second. However, “Climax” is a sultry, seductive, groovy, passionate, and provocative new single that gets me anticipating his seventh studio album. The track embodies not only soul, but elements of modern pop, dubtep, as well as electronic effects all intertwined together creating a beautiful sound. I’m taken a back by this electrifying beat; every hair on my hands stood up the first time I heard it, and my reaction remains the same with every listen.  Usher’s voice gets my blood boiling by his steamy tone and sensual harmonies. Listen, if you haven’t already, and be mesmerized: Continue reading “[Music Review] Usher’s “Climax””

Predictable “Deeds” & Slow “Valor,” Both Still Enjoyable

Opening weekend doesn’t always draw me out to the movies, unless I have absolutely nothing better to do, or there’s a particular film that piqued my interest. After seeing the trailers for “Good Deeds” and “Act of Valor,” I thought why not? It’s a good thing to see Tyler Perry step outside from the usual comedic nature he’s often presented, and I was also happy to see Roselyn Sanchez back on the big screen after a while.  Continue reading “Predictable “Deeds” & Slow “Valor,” Both Still Enjoyable”

Can Entertainers Really Be Themselves In The Industry?

I’ve been seeing and hearing a lot about this controversy surrounding a particular male group that transpired after an interview supposedly went wrong. At first when people (the media and fans alike) started responding negatively I didn’t pay much attention to it because I thought it wasn’t as big a deal as they made it out to be, mind you I hadn’t even seen the interview to be having any sort of opinion on it.  However, seeing that this wasn’t going away after a few days it made me realize that it must be serious after all. So, I decided to watch the interview and get some substantial feedback from an avid follower of the group.  Continue reading “Can Entertainers Really Be Themselves In The Industry?”

Book Review – ‘Illuminate’ by Aimee Agresti

Haven Terra, along with her equally smart best friend Dante and another classmate Lance, landed an internship with the prestigious Lexington Hotel in Chicago. This is evidently an opportunity fit for the privileged and though all three teens excel in their studies, neither had applied for such nor could they fathom the reason as to why they were specifically chosen.

Haunted by her own issues of not knowing who she really was, where she came from or what caused the unsightly scars on her body, Haven is appreciative of the given chance to intern at such a luxurious location in hopes of getting highly recommended to a college of her dreams. However, she has no idea of the ulterior motives their new mentors and the ‘Outfits’ have in store for them, nor the part she’ll have to play in altering their plans for humanity.

Illuminate” is a story about mystery, manipulation, romance, power, desire, and of course the on-going battle of good and evil.  Continue reading “Book Review – ‘Illuminate’ by Aimee Agresti”

Indigo Charlie “Floats” in Fashion

The music video for Indigo Charlie‘s new single, “Float,” has been unveiled!  It’s edgy, stylish, and a little dark. The video was shot as somewhat of a fashion short film showcasing the works of FIDM alumni, designer and friend, Alexander Kosztowny, who custom designed and crafted each dress worn by the singer. Indigo combines the best elements of fashion and drama in “Float,” mixed with her signature … Continue reading Indigo Charlie “Floats” in Fashion

[Music Review] Miss A’s “Touch”

Title: “Touch” 4th Mini Album

Artist: Miss A

Release date: 2.20.2012

I’m still waiting to warm up to Miss A‘s lead track for their 4th EP. However, I would never refuse the other songs included based solely on whether or not I gravitate towards the first. And while “Touch” may not be high up on my chart as yet, I’d still like to give this group and their music a chance. Also, I must applaud the ladies on ever improving their craft, such as delivering strong vocals and tasteful dancing. Continue reading “[Music Review] Miss A’s “Touch””

Lindsay Lands Liz Taylor Role: Is This Her Turning Point?

Its been a while since Lindsay Lohan starred in any thing note worthy film where she could tap into the wonderful actress she’s capable of being, so it’s certainly pleasing to hear she’ll be playing Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime Television Movie “Liz and Dick.” Apparently, the film has been in production since May 2011 and the once troubled star (but now showing signs of upliftment) will channel the internationally known Taylor in this biopic. The Different Faces of Friends

I usually don’t take the time to classify friends but recently I’ve been reminiscing about my high school days and some of the friends I had that turned out not to be true friends in the end. My memories led me into deep thinking and I came to the conclusion that all my friends, the ones who are still there and the ones that have let me down, have three different faces: Continue reading “The Different Faces of Friends”

Miss A’s Touch: Hot or Flop?

I’ve been sort of a fan of Miss A since their debut and that’s mainly for their choreography. One in particular, “Breathe.” The kpop group recently unveiled their latest music video for the song “Touch,” which started out with some kind of Indonesian art form (or is it Egyptian? possibly cos their dancing look so mummified) and I liked that part until the song came … Continue reading Miss A’s Touch: Hot or Flop?
