Living Out of a Suitcase

Do I need a home base? Yes, definitely. But do I want to travel from place to place? Yes, definitely. What I’m trying to say–in my oh so usual complicated way–is that I love traveling and want so badly to experience different cultures around the globe, but I also want that stability and comfort of a home that I can come back to. I’m capital C in cheap, so I doubt I’ll move around, as in actually living somewhere for several months then moving to another place. If it involves booking a hotel or (safe) hostel for the weekend or a week, then that’s more like it. There’s just too much I’d be considering: money, money, money. It does make the world go round and sadly, it’s the one thing holding me back from actually traveling. So, in response to the daily prompt, even if I had the opportunity to live a nomadic life, I couldn’t spend more than a week in a new place that wasn’t my home. I have one that makes everywhere else seem temporary because it offers me something nowhere else can and ever will: peace, love, and family.

  1. Yup that’s me to a point. I don’t like traveling in all honesty. Hate airports and packing and all that. But i have to do it from time to time, and sometimes I end up enjoying the trip. For me, it’s the fact that I miss home. I too couldn’t travel for more than a week, unless the place I go to is English-friendly, or a cruise. Though the longest I spent on a cruise is 8 days.

  4. Yes, money usually is first priority.
But wouldn’t it be grand to just forget about and pretend like you had truckloads and couldn’t care about how they’re spent? Only if it were true.
