Catalina Island, or Isla Catalina, is a tropical island 1.5 miles from the mainland on the south east corner of the Dominican Republic and has over 9,000 inhabitants (thank you Wikipedia because I did not know that). Anyhoo, this island seems to be a great destination for cruise ships. But being on a ship scares me terribly so I’d rather fly in if I can. I’ve also learned it’s a beautiful place flourishing with many species of birds, wildlife, reefs, sand dunes, and mangroves. This is definitely going on my list of places to visit.
