“Change begins with a whisper,” as the tagline states for the film “The Help” in theaters now. The dramatic motion picture includes a line-up of super talented ladies: Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Cicely Tyson, and Octavia Spencer. I’ve always been a fan of movies set in the old days and are able to hold great significance in the hearts of viewers, and this film has done a tremendous job in captivating its audiences. Meet Kimberly Elise, an American film and television actress. Elise has gained notable critical acclaim for her roles in ‘Beloved‘, ‘John Q‘, ‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman‘, and the television series ‘Close to Home‘. Elise is often cited as the ‘young Cicely Tyson‘, an honor in regards to her remarkable acting skills.
Kimberly Elise Trammel was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She completed her BA in Mass Communications at the University of Minnesota. Elise made her movie debut in the 1996 film ‘Set it Off‘, starring alongside Jada Pinkett-Smith, Vivica A. Fox, and Queen Latifah. Her breakthrough role was in the television movie ‘The Ditchdigger’s Daughter‘ in 1997. The film was based on the Pulitzer-prize nominated 1995 memoir ‘The Ditchdigger’s Daughters: A Black Family’s Astonishing Success Story’, written by Yvonne S. Thornton.
