Evanescence’s “My Heart Is Broken”

Don’t you just love those emotional tracks from Evanescence? In fact, that’s what the band is known most for; emotional, passionate, melodramatic, sorrowful, you name it. They’ve made their latest album more bright and strayed a bit from their darker days. And that’s understandable being that Amy Lee along with the others are in a more uplifting place in life. However, I still love those sad, yet passionate numbers. Check out the artistic music video for “My Heart Is Broken,” one of the more heartwrenching tracks on their album, and tell us what you think. This woman can certainly belt out those notes. Continue reading “Evanescence’s “My Heart Is Broken””

[Review] Evanescence

After what seems like a lifetime of wait, Evanescence returns with their highly anticipated third studio album that has proven to be far beyond satisfactory. Evanescence, or should I say Amy Lee, has risen above the depressive concept in lyrics that had once over-shadowed the music, into a more lighter and exciting sound that provides a soothing atmosphere and captures the hearts of its listeners. The songs remain emotional, intense and relatable, but you can definitely sense the change; in a good way that is. After all, there’s nothing wrong with lifting oneself out of sorrow and finally accepting a happy ending.  Take a chapter out of their book or go on the journey with them. It’s worth your time. And with this long ass intro I present to you my track-by-track review. Continue reading “[Review] Evanescence”

Evanescence releases “What You Want”

It’s been a long wait, 5 years to be exact, but rock group Evanescence has returned with their highly anticipated new hard-hitting single “What You Want“. Without any bias whatsoever, I have to say that I’m loving this new sound. It’s a bit different from their symphonic style and I’m sure they’ll have some of that on their upcoming third studio album (watch the MTV clips if you haven’t), but “What You Want” is definitely heavy rock and killing it. Listen to the single below, purchase it on iTunes now, and check out the lyrics here: Continue reading “Evanescence releases “What You Want””

Evanescence set to make a fall comeback!

Despite the meaning behind their name, Evanescence will not be disappearing anytime soon. In fact, the band is gearing up to make their comeback to the world of rock this fall, and vocalist Amy Lee recently shared some information about their new album with SPIN:

“The record is fun — and that’s a totally new thing for us. When I listen to our old music I see that’s where I was in my life at that time. This has been a long trip and parts have been hard. But it’s about not taking everything so seriously this time.” Continue reading “Evanescence set to make a fall comeback!”

Music Is Universal

It’s amazing how music can break down walls and cross borders with the message it conveys, arousing different emotions inside each of us. Its this mere fact that allows musicians to develop a fan base and perform in different countries.

I’ve often asked myself, why is music so powerful? why am I able to be moved even by words I don’t understand? It all comes down to the fact that music is truly universal. Continue reading “Music Is Universal”
