Two weeks ago, on my way to the Shrine (A popular multimedia arts and cultural venue located in Harlem, NYC which music lovers patronize throughout the week, especially because of the live performances) to vibe out to some dancehall reggae and African music, I stumbled upon a live performance that was absolutely electric. M.H. the Verb, a multi-talented artiste who is also a producer, songwriter and DJ, was on stage literally killing it, with his energy and a fantastic live production band. In the words of phrase forward kids, the place was liiiiiiiiiiiiit! According to his publicist, he is an experience you don’t want to miss. With a unique sound that merges different genres together, this Philly/NYC based artiste, whose rhymes are more likely to be about student loans than “spinnaz” is one to definitely watch. Twitter [@ImMelRivers] Facebook [ImMelRivers] Download Pieces To The Puzzle Mixtape Mel Rivers is a young up and coming artist based out of NYC that I happened to bump into randomly in Manhanttan. His first question to me was, “Do you like hip-hop”. Without even thinking, I instantly said, “No”. Basically, shut down whatever it was his was trying to pitch. On second thoughts, I decided … Continue reading Feature: [Pieces to the Puzzle: Mel Rivers]

Yuri Koller is a Toronto based vocalist, songwriter, and producer. His latest effort, Open Doors, came to us via a short sweet email from the man himself. It is a mashup of hiphop, RnB, and soul. Personally, I struggled to find any soul esque notes in his music, hence it just being a contemporary R&B album. If you miss the 90s era, his music re-ignites that vibe effortlessly.
In terms of production, his crew consisting of Cxaleb,SE7N, Oliver Grey, Korruption, and the Masterminds and Nexus Movement, went hard in the paint for him. Both Kai and I were impressed with their professional efforts. Shourr ourrs to dem! Overall, it is a very well produced and cohesive sophomore project. Apparently, this cutie has been on his grind for a minute…Nyhoo, journey with me as I review, and let’s see whether he gets a (-) to the nth power, or an (A*) rating.

Kelly Rowland adds taste to anything she touches, and her overall presence on Ludacris’ latest single, Representin, was just tastefully done. The track definitely sounds like a Motivation part two but that’s owed to Rico Love, producer of both songs. Anyways, check it out if you haven’t yet. Continue reading Ludacris is “Representin”
Indeed he is. Only someone of his caliber could pull off hair styles like that and fashion like that. GD has always stood out in kpop and among his fellow BIG BANG members. The guy just has that individuality that steals the show. I may not be a die hard fan of his antics or his overall persona, but I do appreciate his efforts. And … Continue reading G-Dragon is “One of a Kind”
Can someone please tell me how this video manage to get release without me knowing? This is one of the hottest tracks on “Looking 4 Myself” and I’m thrilled it’s a single. The video’s steamy; I like the concept with the tattoos evolving on their skins. Usher looks sexy as always, and Rick Ross is…well, he’s still Rick Ross. Check out the music video for … Continue reading Usher Wants To ‘See’
There’s nothing hotter than a beat mixed with hip hop, pop, dance, dubstep, and rock. What’s the end result? Tablo is one of those rare kpop artists that you can’t turn your backs on. His creative flow was previously represented as 1/3 of the popular hip hop group Epik High, but while the aforementioned takes a break, Tablo has risen to the occasion depicting new growth and style not only as a solo artist, but as a man who’s evidently transitioned over the years. There’s no need for me to stress on his past difficulties or controversies regarding his educational background, for the music should be more than enough to keep us satisfied and less fascinated with his personal life. Tablo has re-emerged unto the Kpop scene with his debut two part solo album “Fever’s End.” Intriguingly enough, inspiration for the album comes from the “pain and struggle” the artist faced over the years, and how he has managed to overcome it all. I’m a sucker for deepness and if the songs are as invoking as the title and concept then this is bound to be one of the best Kpop albums of the year.
So now loyal readers of my dissecting trends, let’s evaluate this release to uncover the truth, is it really worth the wait? Continue reading “[Review] Tablo’s “Fever’s End””
Cinderella is a mythical and magical story told to us about a young beautiful girl who slips on glass slippers at night and transforms into a princess….I think that’s how the story goes.
The “Airplanes” guy has returned with a new single called “Strange Clouds.” And if you take away the strange fart sounds from the dub-set effect and Lil Wayne‘s ridiculous rap and puppy noises in some parts, this song is actually enjoyable. I mean, it’s already aiming for number one on iTunes, so either that means B.o.B has a strong fan base, people will support the “Airplanes” guy no matter what he does (cause that song still has a strong effect on them), or “Strange Clouds” is obviously just that good. So be sure to listen, purchase, and tell us what you think. Continue reading “B.o.B sees “Strange Clouds””
