Domestic Abuse, infidelity & An Unusual Family

Jdramas surely know how to stir up ones emotions when they get intense, and Kare, Otto, Otoko Tomodachi was no exception. This series was my first to watch since the start of the new year, and I’m more than satisfied with what I’ve been given. It was only eight episodes lasting about forty minutes each and I stayed up all night watching the entire thing. At first, I was sort of skeptical with how I might receive this drama, due to the fact that two of the daughters portrayed whorish behavior, and the eldest was trapped in a violent marriage that I couldn’t save her from. However, once each character was broken down and the audience got to analyze them individually, you could see the causes behind their behavior and the kind of life they built for themselves.

Valentine’s Day is a marketing strategy?

It’s the day when couples do their utmost best to show their love and affection (through money) for each other. February hadn’t even started yet when chocolate, flowers, greeting cards and jewelry commercials began displaying Valentine’s Day specials on television, online, or in stores. Seems many companies use this romantic day as a business venture to rake in those bucks. And who can blame them. I feel like couples can’t simply say “happy Valentine’s Day” and give each other a kiss without spending their money, or going all out to get that perfect gift. I mean let’s be realistic people, the economy isn’t so great as it is, therefore we need to carefully manage our funds. Continue reading “Valentine’s Day is a marketing strategy?”

Church bans interracial marriage

Article by Eric Pfeiffer

In this day and age, it’s hard to believe that racism still exists in the world. In fact, I find it quite disgusting that people are still so narrow-minded when it comes to different races mixing together. And one might think that when the ignorant demonstrate their disapproval of interracial unions that the church would be a symbol of hope delivering the message of acceptance and looking beyond the color of the skin. However, that’s not the case for one church in Kentucky. Continue reading “Church bans interracial marriage”

I wish to “Remain Nameless”

Florence + The Machine had this really addictive track on the deluxe version of their “Ceremonials” album and I just had to post it here as the Song of the Day. Since hearing “Remain Nameless” for the very first time, I’ve been unable to forget or even stop listening to the song. It completely took over my soul and I’m not sure I want it to go away. This is a sensual and passionate track; a little more on the urban, electropop side but this band is experimental so nothing surprises me. Listen and enjoy, then continue to see my interpretation: Continue reading “I wish to “Remain Nameless””

My boyfriend, my hero…hopefully

My girls and I are always having discussions about the kind of qualities we look for in men. Often times we say he has to be determine, ambitious, kind, attractive, and the list goes on. But what I hope for above all the other attributes, yes even before hotness, is courage. Lord knows I do not want a sissy. And if a man acts cowardly in times where his strength is required, need be physical, mental, or emotional, then that will affect my overall image of him. To be honest, it would ruin even the first impression that was obviously good if Continue reading “My boyfriend, my hero…hopefully”
