2015 Grammy Awards Red Carpet

The Grammys is probably the only award show that I care to watch. So I wanted to share something about music’s biggest night aside from the performances and winners. Check out the red carpet and tell us who your favorite is.                               Credits: Lester Cohen + Larry Busacca Continue reading 2015 Grammy Awards Red Carpet

Rihanna Unveils New MV. Where’s The New Album?

I’ve gotten pretty used to Rihanna’s label dropping a new album every year since her debut. So it’s weird when a year passes and she’s still releasing music videos for songs from her already year old album, Apologetic. Anyway, glad to see she’s taking a break, or not. Is she still touring? Who knows. I don’t exactly follow the entertainer. But I do like What … Continue reading Rihanna Unveils New MV. Where’s The New Album?

[Exclusive] Samantha J is Re-inventing Dancehall Pop

Who is Samantha J? Well, not only is the teen entertainer a Jamaican born, shaking up international waters, she’s in my opinion re-inventing dancehall pop and bringing a fresh sound to the music scene. Samantha is one among the many talented youths of her nation giving us change, a non-traditional and fun-loving approach to a genre once described as raunchy and hardcore. In my opinion, … Continue reading [Exclusive] Samantha J is Re-inventing Dancehall Pop

Music Review: Rihanna’s “Unapologetic”

Released: November 19, 2012

Label: Roc Nation/Island Def Jam

Purchase: Amazon

A little step up from her previous oversexed Talk that Talk, but still not even close to impressive. Unapologetic sounds mostly exhausted and rushed. There’s nothing wrong with putting out an album every year to stay current if you can handle it, but at least take the time to perform songs  that will be embedded in the hearts and minds of listeners. Sure there are likable tracks here and there, but not good enough to give goose bumps.  Continue reading “Music Review: Rihanna’s “Unapologetic””

Whatever Happened to…?

R&B music. A genre deemed sexy, sensual, emotional, passionate, groovy, tasteful, for the talented vocalists, and often times contemporary. Like many, I’m a lover of rhythm and blues, in particular the 90s. Because in that era, there were people who actually could sing and performed songs that actually made sense. Its quite interesting how the genre hardly gets any recognition these days, and those who started out … Continue reading Whatever Happened to…?

WARNING: TRUST NO ONE!

Rihanna‘s latest lawsuit is proof that you absolutely cannot trust anyone in entertainment when it comes to handling your money. My advise, manage your own finances. Take the time and educate yourself on the topic and know what’s going on with your shit. What the hell? This is only the latest entertainer to have trouble with accountants. The latter being blamed constantly for causing tax issues for celebrities.

In Rihanna’s situation, the entertainer is suing her former accountants for tens of millions of dollars in losses, shoddy bookkeeping, a failure to recommend  trimming expenses when a 2009 tour was losing money and an ongoing audit by the Internal Revenue Service. Let’s not get into the fact that her tours don’t sell out, cause that’s a whole nother post.  Continue reading “WARNING: TRUST NO ONE!”

‘Battleship’ Didn’t Sink, Not All The Way

I watched the Peter Berg alien/action flick a few days ago before it actually premiered in the states. And I’m glad I didn’t spend any money to watch it because as much as I love Taylor Kitsch, his performance wasn’t super fantastic. However, the action did stir up my adrenaline. Also, Rihanna did well not talking too much and leaving it all for the battlefield, or should I say waters.

Aside from the fight to save earth from these ugly ass alienistic beings, the storyline wasn’t as strong, and no one was believable. For example, when Taylor’s brother died right before his eyes, his reaction was a bit too subtle to convince me he was in pain. I mean, dude’s ship was up in flames, but Taylor’s face looked like he was at the Oscars, simply bored. Maybe its me, and if it is then by all means set me straight. Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been”: Hot or Flop?

The pop star spent weeks learning choreography that involved intricate moves in order to give fans something different from her usual music videos. Rihanna is an island girl, but what I’ve noticed along with anyone else who can see is that the singer doesn’t do choreographed moves in videos. But then again, releasing an album every year and having a tight tour schedule wasn’t granting … Continue reading Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been”: Hot or Flop?

Countdown to Summer #1: We Jammin’

You’re probably thinking ‘okay, why is she posting about Summer already?‘ but I’m anticipating the season for the activities it brings, as well as the warm weather. Hopefully the temperature won’t be as drastic as last year’s and we can all go chill at the beach. So, kicking things off is the pop princess herself, back when she was a sweet and innocent (kind of) teen: Continue reading “Countdown to Summer #1: We Jammin’”

2012 Grammys: Red-carpet arrivals2012 Grammys: Red-carpet arrivals

The Grammys was rather bittersweet tonight, honoring not only the best in music but mourning the loss of one of music’s greats so there wasn’t much of a happy air. However, celebs still tried their best to enjoy the night by looking their best (or ehhh). Check out the arrivals below: Continue reading “2012 Grammy Awards Red Carpet”

Music Review: Rihanna’s “Talk That Talk”

Rihanna

Release date: November 21, 2011

Label: Roc Nation/Island Def Jam

Purchase: Amazon

I discontinued my interest in anything that had to do with Rihanna since her dark transformation from a “Good Girl Gone Bad.” Let’s just say that I’m not buying the ‘this is really me now’ bit she’s blabbering about. Now and then she does release a song that sounds like an okay track and I can give her that much credit, but her music is still far from ground breaking. However, the pop star never ceases to entertain with her  antics; whether it’s gyrating on girls at a carnival, or grinding on stage in tasteless outfits. With all that foolishness aside, I would like to divert my attention to Ri-Ri’s latest effort, “Talk That Talk.”

Rihanna’s 6th album takes sex to another level. It’s true she’s always performed sexually suggestive songs before, but “Talk That Talk” is the raunchiest of them all. Each track is either coded or bare; it’s a matter of how well enough the listener can interpret the lyrics. There’s plenty of dance numbers, mellow r&b/pop balancers and a few island inspired to fill the mainstream airwaves. Too bad there’s hardly anything of great substance. Allow me to take you through Rihanna’s newest effort and highlight the highs and lows manifested in each track. Continue reading “Music Review: Rihanna’s “Talk That Talk””
