One of the biggest male groups in Kpop’s history has unveiled their long awaited new mini album “Alive“, and a music video for the second single off the EP. I think what we all can agree with on “Bad Boy” is that BIG BANG has finally returned to their hip hop roots. This is the group that I became drawn to, not for their sickening … Continue reading BIG BANG is “Alive” and Still “Bad”
BIG BANG is back! There’s nothing else to be said so, check out the video for “Blue” and tell us what you think: credit: bigbang Continue reading BIG BANG Sings The “Blues”
Tablo is one of those rare kpop artists that you can’t turn your backs on. His creative flow was previously represented as 1/3 of the popular hip hop group Epik High, but while the aforementioned takes a break, Tablo has risen to the occasion depicting new growth and style not only as a solo artist, but as a man who’s evidently transitioned over the years. There’s no need for me to stress on his past difficulties or controversies regarding his educational background, for the music should be more than enough to keep us satisfied and less fascinated with his personal life. Tablo has re-emerged unto the Kpop scene with his debut two part solo album “Fever’s End.” Intriguingly enough, inspiration for the album comes from the “pain and struggle” the artist faced over the years, and how he has managed to overcome it all. I’m a sucker for deepness and if the songs are as invoking as the title and concept then this is bound to be one of the best Kpop albums of the year.
So now loyal readers of my dissecting trends, let’s evaluate this release to uncover the truth, is it really worth the wait? Continue reading “[Review] Tablo’s “Fever’s End””
No one can deny the wide spread impact of Kpop around the world, but with so many artists debuting by the second, is there room for more and how can they set themselves apart? There are many new (rookie) girl groups trying to take a bite out of the success cake, but in my opinion some of these groups lack originality and straight up talent. Well in the ever-growing industry, some argue that it takes more than just talent to make it. In fact, I’ve found that “idols” don’t have to be amazing singers and dancers. If you’re in a group, being charismatic and pretty can take you just as far in the industry as well. Talented or not. Continue reading “Kpop is awesome but seems overcrowded…”
So BIG BANG has released the music video for their latest single “Tonight“, off their lame EP. Anyways, I like the video and the song, but it’s just that. Ok! Anyways watch the video below if you haven’t already (which I highly doubt), and vote if it’s hot or flop: Continue reading “BIG BANG’s “Tonight” MV: Hot or Flop?”
I previously posted about BIG BANG‘s comeback to the kpop scene, and even featured their video teaser for the intro track ‘Thank You & You‘. Well, YG Entertainment’s most valuable asset has released their 4th mini album today. The mini album consists of 6, and (I fool you not) only 6 tracks, including the lead single ‘Tonight‘. So was this comeback worth the wait of their precious VIPs after such a long time from kpop? Absolutely NOT. Are you kidding me YG, you couldn’t put more of an effort and add a couple more songs? Well anyways, I’m not a VIP and never was, so this doesn’t faze me. However, I can’t help but feel sad for their unlucky fans for this half-assed new release. Anyways, as I gather my thoughts and divert from the aforementioned issue, I decided to go ahead and give my quick review on the 6 track EP. Continue reading “[Review] BIG BANG is back, but are fans pleased?”
These guys certainly know how to keep their VIPS anxious. Kpop group BIG BANG has been away from the music scene in their homeland for quite some time, therefore their return had to bring it! By this I mean taunt their fans by releasing several photos of their new concept, and of course all the sub projects they’ve been doing leading up to their return as a group. One can only guess what their new mini album (they couldn’t record a full length album being that they left for so long? so cheap) has in store. Well, guess no further. BIG BANG has unveiled a teaser video and it appears like their in Las Vegas. Anyhoo, the teaser is just a video for their intro track, check it out below: Continue reading “The BIG BANG hype!”
Meet Jeff Darcy aka JDRelic, a producer, songwriter, artist, engineer and CEO, who rose to notable fame doing English covers of popular Kpop songs on YouTube. It was his “world famous” cover of G-Dragon’s hit “Heartbreaker” that peeked the interest of a Kpop producer, inviting JD to work with him in creating music possibly for huge international artists in the future.
JD is always working hard at establishing his already rising music career, so be sure to stay up to date because he will definitely make his mark on the music scene.
Check out his smooth english cover of TaeYang‘s “Wedding Dress” below, and read the interview for more:
Meet Taeyang, a South Korean Kpop singer, dancer, songwriter, and producer. He began his training in YG Entertainment, a company for artists wanting to pursue R&B/Urban music, at the young age of 12. After six years of vocal and dance training, he made his debut as a member of BIG BANG.
In 2008, Taeyang released his first solo mini album titled “Hot“. He incorporated mostly R&B songs on the album, as it was the genre of music he loved. He wasn’t as happy with the album due to the fact that he didn’t get the chance to write any of the songs. However, the album was well received by fans and music critic alike; he won ‘Best R&B/Soul Song’ for his single ‘Only Look At Me‘, and ‘Best R&B/Soul Album’ for “Hot” at the 7th Korean Music Awards.
2NE1 has released the music video for their 4th single “It Hurts” from the “To Anyone” album.
The song is more of a ballad compared to their other releases, and the music video has a halloween theme to it. It was quite amazingly directed, depicting the four young ladies in pure sadness; Dara sheds tears realising that her love is no longer with her. In my opinion, Bom owns this song with her remarkable vocals, but it’s nice to see the girls really sing so passionately.

It’s amazing how music can break down walls and cross borders with the message it conveys, arousing different emotions inside each of us. Its this mere fact that allows musicians to develop a fan base and perform in different countries.
I’ve often asked myself, why is music so powerful? why am I able to be moved even by words I don’t understand? It all comes down to the fact that music is truly universal. Continue reading “Music Is Universal”
