Dionne Bromfield ain’t “Foolin” you

The little British girl with big pipes, Dionne Bromfield, is stirring up a lot of interest with her soulful and very powerful singing at the tender age of 15. However, many argue that she’s only displaying the talents expected of an Amy Winehouse protégé and goddaughter to the artist. Dionne is heavily influenced by Motown but still incorporates a modern sound into her music. Her debut album “Introducing Dionne Bromfield”, released through Winehouse’s Lioness records in 2009, features covers of classic hits like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” reflecting Dionne’s love for the 60’s. Though the album gave listeners a taste of what Bromfield was capable of doing vocally, she was ready to start working on her own music and establishing an international career. [Review] Jessie J’s “Who You Are”

Who You AreSo just who is Jessie J? well, she’s certainly no bubble gum pop artist. Ms. J tells it like it is and keeps it real always. ‘Fresh’ isn’t quite the word to use when describing her sound. In fact, her songs play on different genres: rock, pop, r&b, reggae, and even soul. So how can Jessie be classified into one category when she’s mixing so much elements into one work of art that has been titled “Who You Are“.

Jessie’s debut album is raw. The songs have substance and the lyrics are crystal clear. Passion, charisma, creativity, and originality, Jessie J embodies all these aspects and showcases them all in her first release. Read the entire review below in order to fully comprehend the point I’m trying to get across: Jessie J is here to stay! Continue reading “[Review] Jessie J’s “Who You Are””

Adele turns ’21’

Grammy Award winning British singer/songwriter Adele will release her sophomore album “21” in the U.S on January 24, 2011. The first single ‘Rolling in the Deep, is a “dark, bluesy, gospel disco theme”. The music video lives up to her explanation and the words to the song. Adele stated that “21” is different from “19“, but explores the same things in a different light.

Being that her debut album was titled “19”, and now the second titled “21”, I assume she will call her third “23” (in reference to her two year gap between the first releases).

Check out her live performance of “Rolling In The Deep” on the Ellen Show below:
