The Grammys is probably the only award show that I care to watch. So I wanted to share something about music’s biggest night aside from the performances and winners. Check out the red carpet and tell us who your favorite is. Credits: Lester Cohen + Larry Busacca Continue reading 2015 Grammy Awards Red Carpet
R&B music. A genre deemed sexy, sensual, emotional, passionate, groovy, tasteful, for the talented vocalists, and often times contemporary. Like many, I’m a lover of rhythm and blues, in particular the 90s. Because in that era, there were people who actually could sing and performed songs that actually made sense. Its quite interesting how the genre hardly gets any recognition these days, and those who started out … Continue reading Whatever Happened to…?
Usher has unveiled the music video to one of the r&b tracks off his latest album, Looking 4 Myself. “Dive” is sexy, passionate, and all around entertaining. One of my favorites since “Climax.” And I’m feeling the music video. It’s very classy. By the way, isn’t that Chanel Iman? Anyways, check it out and tell us what you think. Can someone please tell me how this video manage to get release without me knowing? This is one of the hottest tracks on “Looking 4 Myself” and I’m thrilled it’s a single. The video’s steamy; I like the concept with the tattoos evolving on their skins. Usher looks sexy as always, and Rick Ross is…well, he’s still Rick Ross. Check out the music video for … Continue reading Usher Wants To ‘See’
Release: June 12, 2012
Usher‘s latest sounds like a battle between r&b, pop, and dance. It’s a great mixture nonetheless, and I did enjoy every single track. I must admit I wasn’t expecting to being that David Guetta contributed to the album (sorry I’m not a fan of his generic sound). However, there were a couple tracks that won me over completely.
Looking 4 Myself is a wonderful depiction of where the artist is at this point in his life. It signifies where he’s going next with his music, and whether he’s prepared to take it to the next step. Trust me when I say that after you finish listening to this one, you’ll be convinced that Usher has indeed found himself and should look no further. I strongly suggest getting the deluxe version, that one’s even hotter. Continue reading “Music Review: Usher’s ‘Looking 4 Myself’”

For all those still pondering on whether or not this song’s about the big ‘S’, get your heads out the clouds cause it’s not. “Climax” is about reaching the limit in the relationship and deciding on what’s the next step to take. I absolutely love this new song and I hope the rest of his album will be just like this. Check out the electrifying … Continue reading Usher reaches the “Climax”
I was beginning to worry Usher was putting to rest his soulful roots to jump on the dance trend that has proven to be tasteless and forgettable music only hot for a second. However, “Climax” is a sultry, seductive, groovy, passionate, and provocative new single that gets me anticipating his seventh studio album. The track embodies not only soul, but elements of modern pop, dubtep, as well as electronic effects all intertwined together creating a beautiful sound. I’m taken a back by this electrifying beat; every hair on my hands stood up the first time I heard it, and my reaction remains the same with every listen. Usher’s voice gets my blood boiling by his steamy tone and sensual harmonies. Listen, if you haven’t already, and be mesmerized: Continue reading “[Music Review] Usher’s “Climax””
If you’re out of the loop, then allow me to introduce you to a talented artist influenced by old school r&b soul. Lemar, an English singer, songwriter, producer, and actor, has gained moderate success in Europe and Australia. He has had 7 top ten singles and sold over 2 million records, not to mention he’s won two Brit Awards and three Mobo Awards. What can I say? The man is out to conquer the world, starting with one heart at a time. But before we get down to the sensual and tasteful melodies coming from his lips, let’s discover who Lemar is behind the music. Check out the Bad boy and girls’ lastest music video featuring the sexy pop/r&b star Usher. “Looking for Love” is also included on the “Last Train to Paris” album in stores now. Seems like the trio will release a music video for every single one of the songs on the album. Oh well, they have the funds to do it so good luck to them. Gone are the days when singers were freely and passionately singing without the help of “pitch correction”, yes, I am referring to the infamous auto-tune. This is a continuation of my previous post, “what do you think about auto-tune?” Why the continuation you wonder? it’s because i’m truly annoyed with this audio processor that is plaguing the music industry.
Too many artists are utilizing auto-tune into their music: Ke$ha, T-Pain, The Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Kanye West, Jason Derulo, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, and quite a few others. I found it rather ironic that Jay-Z released a single titled “DOA (Death of Auto-tune)”, but still used the device on another track, and on the same album (ain’t that funny).
Meet Miguel, an American r&b/hip hop artist and producer from Los Angeles, California. He became known for his hot breakthrough single “All I Want Is You” ft. J Cole. Miguel worked with a local production duo Drop Squad in 2000, before being signed with independent record label Black Ice in 2004. He is currently signed to Jive Records.
Miguel had been touring with Continue reading “Spotlight – Miguel”
It’s amazing how music can break down walls and cross borders with the message it conveys, arousing different emotions inside each of us. Its this mere fact that allows musicians to develop a fan base and perform in different countries.
I’ve often asked myself, why is music so powerful? why am I able to be moved even by words I don’t understand? It all comes down to the fact that music is truly universal. Continue reading “Music Is Universal”
